What to Expect

Our congregation is warm and friendly, and we welcome visitors to our worship service.  While people will greet you before and after the service, no one will single you out in worship or make you stand. We don’t like to embarrass our guests!

What to wear

Dress comfortably for worship. Most people dress up just a little, but you’ll also see suits, jeans, and shorts.

Accessibility

We believe that all people should be able to participate fully in worship and in church life regardless of their physical, developmental, or cognitive abilities.

Children & Families

Worship

Children of all ages are warmly welcomed in our Sunday morning worship services. We encourage children and youth to participate as liturgists, ushers, acolytes, communion presenters and musicians. Understanding that our children may need hands-on activities during worship, ushers offer children’s bulletins, activity bags are available outside of the library, and scribble sheets and children’s Bibles can be found in the pew racks.  Parents have the option to place their children, Kindergarten age and under, in our staffed Child Care Room at any time during the worship service.

Milestone Ministries

As a congregation, we celebrate significant events in the life of our children and youth including birth, baptism, blessing of backpacks, 3rd grade Bibles, confirmation, and high school graduation

Family Fun

As often as we can, we like to schedule time for fun! Two favorite events are the Bike Rally in August and the Advent Craft Celebration during Advent.

Parents

Recognizing that faith is primarily nurtured in the home, we equip parents to nurture faith in their children and youth by providing home devotions and classes about issues facing parents today.

Community Care Policy

First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater believes that we are called by God to create a safe haven for all the children and youth in our care, protecting those who are powerless and empowering them through faith and trust.   We require all adults who work with children and youth to attend a policy training, obtain a background check, and sign a yearly commitment form.  Read the current policy here.
