What to Expect

Our congregation is warm and friendly, and we welcome visitors to our worship service.  While people will greet you before and after the service, no one will single you out in worship or make you stand. We don’t like to embarrass our guests!

What to wear

Dress comfortably for worship. Most people dress up just a little, but you’ll also see suits, jeans, and shorts.

We believe that all people should be able to participate fully in worship and in church life regardless of their physical, developmental, or cognitive abilities.

How do I join?

We hold membership classes a few times each year.  If you decide to join, the Church Council (or Session) will meet with you briefly to learn about you.  Then you will be welcomed into the congregation in a worship service.  Please contact the Pastor or the church office if you are interested in joining.

First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, MN is seeking an innovative leader to develop and grow a creative and vibrant programming for children and teens that cultivates lasting intergenerational relationships. The compassionate person in this position supports and develops a culture of welcoming and inclusivity for children and youth while practicing transparent communication. This organized person takes initiative to develop, communicate and implement all aspects of the ministry to support and encourage growth for children, youth and families in their faith.

Essential Functions for Part-Time Position (20-25 hours/week)

  1. Imagine, design and coordinate regular programming with the school year for ages 0-18 including researching, choosing and preparing curriculum with scope and sequence; recruit, schedule, equip, and support volunteers and nursery staff in alignment with best practices and policies.
  2. Cultivate authentic relationships with children, teens, parents and volunteers; cast vision for fostering intergenerational relationships within the congregation through collaborating with ministry teams to experiment and innovative new opportunities.
  3. Communicates regularly with families and community through a variety of means including print, social media, email and verbal; provides calendar of events and programming and pastoral care support and resources.
  4. Design, implement and teach Confirmation in coordination with Pastor.
  5.  Plan, communicate and lead annual youth trips and regular social events throughout the year.
  6. Provide opportunities for children, youth and families to serve and live out faith in community including regular outreach in partnership with Mission Team.
  7. Collaborate with worship staff and kids’ choir volunteer to encourage diverse opportunities for children/youth involvement in worship.
